Carol Vorderman: Closer to Home

BBC One Wales

Carol Vorderman takes a road trip of rediscovery across her home patch of North Wales and meets the people whose stories reflect the region today.

From Queen of the numbers on Countdown, to author, pilot, and self-confessed general mischief maker, over the years TV presenter Carol Vorderman has done it all! Now she’s returning to her roots on a road trip through her home turf of North Wales. On the journey Carol reflects on how growing up there shaped her life as she meets local people whose stories champion the region’s resilience, determination, and grit.

Carol starts her trip by heading back to her hometown of Prestatyn. She shares personal memories of her upbringing in the 1960s with her Mum, a divorcee who raised three children single-handedly. Carol continues her journey in Rhyl, the town where she spent her schooldays that proved to be a springboard to life at university and beyond, before ending her trip indulging her engineering instincts, uncovering the way technology and innovation in North Wales has made an impact in the past and is forging the future.

Carol Vorderman: Closer to Home airs on Tuesday 5th January 2021, 8:30pm on BBC Cymru Wales
